Golden Eaglets squad announcement: Manu Garba names 20-player roster for U17 Afconq

The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed the Golden Eaglets squad for the upcoming WAFU-B U17 Boys Tournament.

The WAFU-B U17 Boys Tournament serves as qualifiers for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

A breakdown of the 20-man roster shows that the coaching crew, led by Manu Garba, has selected three goalkeepers, six defenders, five midfielders and six forwards for the regional competition.

The U17 national team are set to depart Nigeria on Wednesday for Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire, ahead of this year’s WAFU-B U17 Boys Tournament.

The team's preparations have been comprehensive, and they will now look to translate their promising camp form into success on the tournament stage.

In their final friendly match before departure, the Golden Eaglets held Mop Stars FC to a goalless draw on Monday.

This concluded a productive pre-tournament camp where the team played 13 friendly games, winning 10, drawing two, and losing just one.

Across these fixtures, they scored 25 goals while conceding only five, highlighting both attacking potency and defensive stability.

The five-time world champions will open their WAFU-B campaign against the Baby Cheetahs of Benin Republic on Wednesday, 24th September. Following this, they will face Burkina Faso in Group B.
