Confirmed team news: Super Eagles CB Igoh Ogbu ruled out of Slavia v FK Bodo/Glimt
Published: September 16, 2025
Slavia Prague head coach Jindřich Trpišovský has confirmed that Super Eagles centre-back Igoh Ogbu will not feature in the squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League opener against Bodo/Glimt.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Trpišovský addressed the team’s injury concerns, providing clarity on the Nigerian defender’s status.
“We had problems with the marodka, unfortunately I will just say that Honza Bořil and Igoh Ogbu will not be in the nomination,” Trpišovský stated, acknowledging the absence of both players from the matchday squad.
Ogbu, who has been an important part of Slavia Prague’s defensive setup, will miss the high-profile clash as the team seeks to navigate its return to Europe’s elite competition after a six-year absence.
While Trpišovský did not disclose specific details regarding the nature of Ogbu’s fitness issues, his exclusion suggests that the club is taking a cautious approach to ensure the player’s full recovery.
The coach emphasized that despite these absences, the team is prepared and in the right condition for the challenge ahead.
"At the beginning we weren’t as well-tuned as we wanted. Now we’re at the right operating temperature, I can feel it. I’m convinced that we’ll show it on Wednesday,” Trpišovský added, highlighting the squad’s readiness to perform in Ogbu’s absence.
Slavia’s clash against Bodo/Glimt will be a key moment for the club in its Champions League campaign, but the focus remains on collective performance rather than individual absences.
Ogbu’s return will likely be assessed after the midweek fixture as Slavia Prague continues to balance Champions League ambitions with domestic responsibilities.
