Opposition watch: Colombia name Arsenal GK in U20 World Cup squad to face Flying Eagles
Published: September 17, 2025
With a statement on the official website, Arsenal have confirmed that promising goalkeeper Alexei Rojas has been named in Colombia's squad for the upcoming FIFA U20 World Cup, taking place in Chile
Colombia will do battle with Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Norway in Group F of the Fifa U20 World Cup.
The South Americans will take on the seven-time African champions at the Estadio Fiscal, Talca on October 5.
As part of their preparations for the World Cup, La Tricolor will play international friendlies against their counterparts from Paraguay and Mexico in Asunción on September 17 and September 23 respectively.
Rojas is Arsenal's fourth choice goalkeeper, with David Raya, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Tommy Setford ahead of him in manager Mikel Arteta's pecking order.
The 19-year-old has received one call-up for a first team game, against Bolton Wanderers, in last season's Carabao Cup, though he was an unused substitute.
He trained with the first team during pre-season and was named in the squad for the tour of Singapore and Hong Kong.
Rojas has six caps for Colombia's U20 national team, including an appearance against Brazil at the South American Championship.
Colombia coach César Torres is expected to finalise his squad after today’s friendly against Paraguay, with September 18 set as the deadline for submission of the final list.
