'Makes the team better' – Werder Bremen attacker highlights importance of Boniface
Published: September 17, 2025
Werder Bremen forward Marco Grüll has highlighted the influence of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, stressing the importance of competition within the squad ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga clash with SC Freiburg.
Speaking before the upcoming fixture, Grüll praised Boniface for raising the level of Bremen’s attack.
"Victor Boniface makes the team better. You can see how he uses his body and the qualities he brings to training,” Grüll told official website of the club, underlining the presence of the 24-year-old as a valuable addition to Horst Steffen’s squad.
Boniface, who joined Bremen as part of the club’s summer reinforcements, has quickly impressed teammates with his physical presence and technical ability.
Grüll noted that having players of his caliber drives higher standards across the frontline.
"It's important for us to have this competition, and that's why we need someone like him here," he explained.
The Austrian forward also emphasized that internal battles for places are not limited to the attacking department, but Boniface’s arrival has added an extra edge.
"We have this competition in other positions as well, and that's important. I'm a hard worker, and that's how I want to use my qualities," Grüll stated, suggesting that he welcomes the challenge of competing alongside the Nigerian.
Boniface has been viewed as a key signing capable of strengthening Bremen’s attacking options in both domestic and European competitions.
