Women's Yashin Trophy: Super Falcons star Nnadozie's ranking revealed as Chelsea GK claims award

Super Falcons and Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie missed out on the 2025 Women's Yashin Trophy, finishing fourth in the final ranking.

The prestigious award, presented as part of the Ballon d'Or, honors the world's best female goalkeeper.

Chelsea's England international Hannah Hampton claimed the top spot, followed by Ann-Katrin Berger (Gotham FC) in second and Barcelona’s Cata Coll in third.

Dutch goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar (Arsenal) completed the top five.

Nnadozie's nomination was a recognition of an outstanding year for both club and country.

She played a key role in Nigeria's triumphant 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Morocco, where the Super Falcons lifted their 10th continental title, conceding just twice in open play and keeping four clean sheets.

At club level, Nnadozie made history by joining Brighton & Hove Albion, becoming the first Nigerian goalkeeper in the English Women’s Super League.

Her achievements also include winning the 2024 UNFP Goalkeeper of the Season while at Paris FC and securing the Coupe de France Féminine with crucial penalty saves in the final.

Despite missing out on the trophy, Nnadozie’s nomination marks a significant milestone for African football, highlighting her rise to the global stage and cementing her status as one of the world's top goalkeepers.
