'We laugh a lot together' - Steffen delighted with Boniface's impact at Werder Bremen
Published: September 26, 2025
Werder Bremen manager Horst Steffen has expressed delight with how Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has quickly settled into life at the club, both on and off the pitch.
The Super Eagles forward joined the Bundesliga side on loan this summer has integrated into the team, providing an assist in his first match against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Speaking before the Bundesliga clash against Bayern Munich, Steffen praised Boniface’s attitude and commitment, noting that the Nigerian International has blended well with his new teammates.
"I've come to know him as a very likeable person; he's very personable, approachable, and dedicated to the team," the 56-year-old told the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
"We laugh a lot together; I think it's nice when a player has such a sense of humor and shows such joy.
"He's fit right into our group. I don't know what others say or how it was elsewhere," Steffen said.
The Nigerian international endured a difficult campaign last season, battling injuries and inconsistent form as Bayer Leverkusen failed to defend the Bundesliga title.
The 24-year-old will be aiming to reignite his career at the club and strengthen his case for a recall to the Super Eagles ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.
