'Not as good' - Former Besiktas midfielder insists Fenerbahce striker not at the level of Osimhen
Published: October 07, 2025
Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin has criticized Fenerbahce striker Youssef En-Nesyri, claiming the Moroccan forward is not on the same level as Nigeria's Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian international, who sealed a permanent move to the Yellow-Reds after a stellar loan spell, has begun the new campaign in fine form.
Osimhen netted twice in his first two league starts of the season against Kayserispor and Çaykur Rizespor, despite missing three matches due to fitness concerns.
Engin expressed doubts about En-Nesyri's ability to lead Fenerbahçe to the Turkish Super Lig title, stating that he falls short compared to top strikers like Osimhen and Mauro Icardi.
"Fenerbahçe cannot win the championship with En-Nesyri. This man is not even half as good as Icardi and Osimhen,"
Beyaz TV commentator Engin said, according to habersarikirmizi.
While En-Nesyri has made a decent start to the season with four goals in eight league appearances, Fenerbahçe still trail Galatasaray by six points.
The Moroccan striker also struggled to make an impact in front of goal over the weekend as Fenerbahçe were held to a goalless draw by Samsunspor, missing the chance to capitalize on Galatasaray's dropped points against Besiktas.
His performance has further strengthened Engin's argument about the difference in quality between both strikers to lead their team to the league title.
