Super Eagles camp update: Osimhen, Lookman, Uche, Iwobi, Arokodare, 12 others report for duty

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have officially opened their training camp at The Ranch Hotel in Polokwane, South Africa, ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho. 

Head Coach Eric Chelle and his backroom staff arrived in Polokwane on Monday to oversee preparations.

On Tuesday, 15 players arrived in Polokwane, bringing the total number in camp to 17. 

The players currently in camp include William Troost-Ekong, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Chrisantus Uche, Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Terem Moffi, Moses Simon, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Frank Onyeka, Tolu Arokodare, Semi Ajayi, Stanley Nwabali, Adebayo Adeleye and Amas Obasogie.

Benjamin Frederick (Dender FC), Zaidu Sanusi (Porto), Alhassan Yusuf Abdullahi (New England Revolution), Akor Adams (Sevilla) and Olakunle Olusegun (Pari Nizhny Novgorod) have not yet reported for international duty ahead of the Super Eagles first workout on South African soil.

The team is scheduled to hold its first training session at 6 p.m. local time. 

More players are expected to join the camp in the coming hours as preparations continue for the upcoming qualifier.

The Super Eagles will face Lesotho in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on Friday, October 10, at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. 

The three-time Africa Cup of Nations champions are aiming for a vital win to strengthen their chances of progressing in the World Cup qualification campaign.
