Super Eagles target Nwaneri finds the net as England U21s beat Slovakia in Euro qualifier

Super Eagles target Ethan Nwaneri was on the scoresheet as England Under-21s secured a commanding 4–0 win over Slovakia in their European Championship qualifier on Tuesday.

Born in England to Nigerian parents, Nwaneri has represented England across various youth levels but remains eligible to play for the Super Eagles, as he has yet to feature for the Three Lions’ senior team.

The Arsenal midfielder delivered a composed finish in the 60th minute, lifting the ball over goalkeeper Adam Hrdina to make it 2–0 after a precise through-ball from Sydie Peck.

Divin Mubama opened the scoring in the 18th minute, heading home from close range following excellent work by Tyrique George.

The Manchester City forward, currently on loan at Stoke City, also scored England’s fourth goal in the 87th minute with a powerful strike into the bottom corner.

Fulham’s Josh King added the third in the 73rd minute, sweeping in his first goal at under-21 level after good build-up play involving Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Rico Lewis.

Nwaneri’s composed finish and overall performance continue to draw attention from Nigeria.

Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle is closely monitoring the 18-year-old, with a potential call-up under consideration should the midfielder choose to switch his international allegiance.
