RILWAN HASSAN Relishing Confrontation With LARS JACOBSEN
Published: July 14, 2012
Sunday's clash between FC Midtjylland and Denmark's finest FC Copenhagen should rank as the biggest game in Scandinavia this weekend. Both clubs finished in third and second position respectively in the 2011 - 2012 campaign.
The Wolves have released an 18-man squad for the tie at Parken Stadium. Included in Glen Riddersholm's roster are five Nigerian players - Rilwan Hassan, Izunna Uzochukwu,Sylvester Igboun, Noah Ojuola and Jude Nworuh.
Allnigeriasoccer.com had a telephone conversation with FCM's dribbling sensation Rilwan Hassan to share his thoughts on the match against the 9-time Danish champions.
''Every game is important to us. But the game on Sunday is very important because we want to begin the season on a winning note. The team has been looking forward to the beginning of the season, and we have been doing well in our friendly games and also in training,'' says Rilwan Hassan, who was picked as Midtjylland's young player of the year last season, to allnigeriasoccer.com.
Lars Christian Jacobsen should get Ariël Jacobs' nod to start at right back on Sunday. It promises to be an interesting confrontation between the experienced Danish international, who has 53 caps for Denmark, and the dangerous and pacy winger Rilwan Hassan.
''I played against Lars Jacobsen twice last season. I also watched most of his games on national television including the matches played at Euro 2012. So I know him so well, and he knows me as well. It's a challenge I am looking forward to. But no matter who I am playing against, I always focus on my style and that makes me improve more in most of my games,'' said Hassan.
Rilwan Hassan is under contract with FC Midtjylland until the summer of 2014. The 21-year-old has netted 5 goals in 64 appearances in three seasons with the Herning based outfit.
