Rabiu Afolabi has been trialling with Sunderland.
The Sunday Sun says Nigerian centre-back Rabiu Afolabi – who was released by French side Monaco at the end of last season – has been training with them, although Martin O’Neill ultimately opted not to offer the 32-year-old a contract.
He said: “I did not take up the option to sign him but he has experience, so it was worth seeing him.”
