SOLOMON OWELLO: Mission Accomplished If We Are Promoted
Published: October 17, 2012
With four games left, Norwegian first division club IK Start would be making an immediate return to the elite series if they defeat promotion rivals Sandefjord on Sunday at Sør Arena.
Former Nigeria youth - teamer Solomon Owello is one of the key players in the IK Start squad. This is unarguably Owello's best season since his arrival in Norway five seasons ago. The goals have been flowing from midfield; he has bagged 6 goals in 26 games for the league table-toppers.
''I am really looking forward to this game because it is going to be fun. I would say it is mission accomplished if we are promoted on Sunday, as that was the target we set for ourselves before the season started,'' says Owello to allnigeriasoccer.com.
In the summer transfer market, the Canada 2007 Fifa Under 20 World Cup star was seriously courted by SK Brann. But the deal did not see the light of day after the club failed to meet his valuation.
Now, Owello, who runs out of contract at the end of the 2012 season, has less than four matches or one month to decide his future at Kristiansand. He is being secretive about the next step in his career.
''It was a very difficult choice for me to play in Norway's second - tier. I can't say for now If I would be leaving IK Start, I have to wait and see the offers available and then think about the next step,'' adds Owello.
