Zambia Lose To Saudi Arabia In FriendlyThe Zambia national soccer developmental team on Wednesday went down to Saudi Arabia by 2 – 1 in an international friendly played at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium in DammÄm City.

The Zambian team which comprised mainly of locally based players failed to match up to their hosts coached by Dutch legend Frank Rijkaard, who also won the UEFA champions league with Barcelona, as they conceded two quick goals in the dying minutes (45′ and 46′) of the first half.

Zambia pulled one back in the 71st minute via a penalty converted by Nkana striker Evans Kangwa.

Zambia coach Herve Renard who was using the match to assess the local based players ahead of the announcement of the provisional team to go into camp in Johannesburg later this month deployed an unfamiliar line-up with Zanaco midfielder Salulani Phiri in defence as well as Russian based midfielder Chisamba Lungu at left back.

Zanaco’s Lewis Macha led the line supported by his club mate Moses Phiri and Power Dynamo’s Kennedy Mudenda.

Saudi Arabia held a star studded Argentinian squad to a goaless draw at the same venue.

Zambia starting line up;

Joshua TITIMA, Jimmy CHISENGA, Chintu KAMPAMBA, Salulani PHIRI, Roderick KABWE, Thomas NYIRENDA, Mukuka MULENGA, Chisamba LUNGU, Kennedy MUDENDA, Moses PHIRI, Lewis MACHA
