Burkina Faso Skipper, Dagano Hails Coach Paul Put
Published: February 10, 2013
Burkina Faso skipper Moumouni Dagano has hailed the work done by coach Paul Put. Unheralded before the start of the tournament, the Stallions have made history by qualifying for their first African Cup of Nations final.
''Since I started my international career 14 years ago, this is the first time I am in heaven. It's magic for us. So far, I can not believe it. Every achievement, we say wow. It is also the reward of many years of work. We want to try to enjoy it. Moments like these do not happen every day,'' says the former Genk striker to DH.be.
Dagano added: ''I think the only one who really believed it was the coach. Our goal was mainly to pass the first round and win a match since, except in 1998, we hadn't done that. The coach, he really believed, thanks to him. He has allowed us to believe in ourselves, in our qualities. We owe him that. He told us that Zambia was the surprise and this year, it would be us. We did not believe it too. Get to the final, nobody believed it.''
Dagano, these days playing in the Qatari championship, has managed two appearances for Burkina Faso at the African Cup of Nations.
