Published: February 11, 2013
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will represent the continent of Africa at the Fifa Confederations Cup billed to be staged this summer in Brazil.
This honor comes by virtue of Nigeria winning her third African Cup of Nations crown on Sunday in Johannesburg. The Stephen Keshi tutored side defeated Burkina Faso 1- 0 in the final of the tournament.
Nigeria are drawn alongside European and world champions Spain, South American kings Uruguay and Oceania representatives Tahiti in Group B of the Confederations Cup.
The competition will run from 15 June – 30 June with Nigeria playing her first game against Tahiti on June 17 at the 62,000 capacity Estádio Mineirão, Belo Horizonte.
It would be recalled that Nigeria first participated in the tournament back in 1995 when it was known as the King Fahd Cup.
