Lack Of Funds Mars Jossy Lad's BurialWith less than 72 hours to the burial of the late Super Falcons Coach, Joseph Ladipo, popularly known as Jossy Lad, the committee constituted forthe ceremony is still faced with lack of fund to execute most of the programmes lined up for a suitable burial.

Investigation conducted over the weekend revealed that the casket that was purchased by the immediate family of the deceased was the only thing on ground for the burial of the departed football icon slated for this weekend’s 13th and 14th June in Ibadan.

The burial committee headed by ex-IICC player who also played along the deceased in late 60s, Elder Eddy Ayoola with other members that include Dr. Felix Owolabi, Dr. Steve Olarinoye, the zonal coordinator of National Sports Commission, (NSC) zone 1, Rafiu Salami, Jossy Lad’s teammate, Pastor Solomon Oni, cousin to the deceased, Tunji Ladipo, son of the deceased,
Chief Adewolu Ayinla, who is in-charge of security and protocol and Femi Okenla is still in dilemma over failed promises from expected financiers.

Also funds expected from the soccer ruling body, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is doubtful considering the busy schedule of NFF this month as the body is neck deep in make sure that Super Eagles records a successful outing in their second appearance in the Confederations Cup slated for the 15th of June in Brazil as well as the World Cup qualifying matches scheduled before and during the week for the burial of Jossy Lad.

A member of the committee who craved for anonymity informed that the Oyo State Ministry of Youths and Sports has been working so hard to make sure we have the funds ready for the burial.

He queried:'' The Permanent Secretary has been in touch with the committee saying the file for the release of funds has reached the final stage and it would be released soon, “but the question is how soon?''

''I must confess to you that the family alone cannot shoulder the burial responsibilities. Jossy Lad was the bread winner of his family before his death.

''He lived and died in his uncompleted building due to the fact that he had to take care of his family and the extended ones. His childrendespite been University graduates had no tangible means of livelihood,'' the source added.

If there is no good news before the committee that would be meeting on Tuesday, it is likely for them to postpone the event in order to give the late gaffer a befitting burial.

The committee in a programme released two weeks ago planned to commence the burial rites on 13th June with a football match between 3SC and Talented FC and a lying-in-state at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium.

A church service would be held the following day, 14th at Christ Church Mapo after which interment will follow at the cemetery of the church.

Guests would be entertained after the interment inside the indoor gymnasium hall of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium.
