Exclusive: CFR Cluj Set To Offer Obiora Nwankwo Permanent Contract
Published: July 04, 2013
Obiora Nwankwo will continue playing for Romanian Liga 1 outfit CFR Cluj next season, a representative of the defensive midfielder has exclusively told this portal.
Earlier reports suggested that the Nigeria international could be heading for the exits after his loan agreement expired at the end of last season.
CFR Cluj were dismal in the Romanian championship in the 2012 - 2013 season and have fired their former manager, replacing him with Mircea Rednic, who has recommended that the club continue their association with Obiora Nwankwo.
''Negotiations for a new contract have started. In two days time everything will be clear.
''Obiora Nwankwo is with Cluj in Austria for pre-season training. The club want to acquire him outright from Parma,'' Nwankwo's adviser, who does not want to jeopardize discussions, simply told allnigeriasoccer.com.
The 21 - year - old struggled for action towards the end of last season as he was down with injury.
Nonetheless, he still recorded 7 (5 starts) in the Romanian top flight.
