Just as allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively revealed last week, Nigeria international Godfrey Oboabona has arrived Istanbul to formalize his switch to Super League new boys Rizespor.
The 23 - year - old center back, who last defended the colors of Sunshine Stars, will put pen - to - paper on a four - year contract with the Rize based outfit subject to him passing a traditional medical.
Oboabona's imminent move will be sweet music to the ears of Mike Idoko and the Sunshine Stars brass.
Including performance related add ons, the Akure side will net 650,000 euros from the sale of their prized jewel, who had been on the wish list of clubs in France (Lille), Ukraine (Metallurg Donetsk) and Spain ( Racing Santander) following his exploits at the African Cup of Nations.
Godfrey Oboabona will earn 450,000 euros a year at Rizespor, meaning he would have pocketed the sum of €1.8 million (equivalent of =N= 389 million) when his contract runs out in the summer of 2017.
