Liverpool Striker Sheyi Ojo On Target As England Lose To Russia
Published: June 10, 2015
Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo netted an 80th minute penalty but it was enough as England Under - 18s lost 2 - 1 on Tuesday evening in a friendly with Russia played at Arena Khimki, Moscow.
The Anglo - Nigerian striker was named in the starting line-up alongside Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo.
The hosts took the lead in the 8th minute through Georgi Melkadze, who capitalized on a defensive error by Tosin to fire past goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.
The young Three Lions got a deserved equalizer ten minutes from time through Ojo, who coolly converted from the spot after he was felled in the penalty area by a defender.
The England Under 18s suffered heartbreak one minute into stoppage time, when Poluboy Arinov scored off a corner.
Tosin Adarabioyo made way for Dael Fry (Middlesbrough) before the start of the second half while Sheyi Ojo played the full 90.
