Algeria Coach : We Will Take Nigeria Very Seriously
Published: December 05, 2015
Ahead of the eagerly anticipated meeting against the Dream Team, Algeria Under 23s Swiss coach, Pierre-Andre Schurman, says it is useless to make calculations as qualification for the semi - final is in their hands and even a draw will suffice for the North Africans to advance.
Nonetheless, the Algerians have targeted a victory against Nigeria to avoid facing hosts Senegal in the semi - final and to boost the morale of the squad, even if Egypt beat Mali as widely expected.
“It depends only on us. We must not make calculations and it is useless to make calculations. More calculations are made, the more it becomes difficult, ” Pierre-Andre Schurman was quoted as saying by lebuteur.com.
He added : “ We are focused on our subject and on performance. I will not discuss the rest. What is important is us. After that, there are certainly parameters that must be taken into account in relation to the quality of our opponent, but again it depends only on us.
“We have a line to follow, we are to follow and will not change anything. Obviously, we respect our opponent that we will take very seriously.”
Algeria are sweating on the fitness of strikers Abdelhakim Amokrane and Zakaria Haddouche plus defender Raouf Benguit ahead of Saturday’s game at Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor, Dakar.
