Barcelona Defender Ekpolo Starts Training With Nigeria Squad Ahead Showdown With Brazil
Published: March 22, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Barcelona defender Godswill Ekpolo has joined the Nigeria Under 23s training camp in Vitória ahead of the international friendly against Brazil.
Born in Benin City, Ekpolo had been on the radar of the Dream Team VI handlers and was first invited for a get-together in December 2014 but could not honour the call up due to injury.
On other occasions he was called up by manager Samson Siasia, commitments with the Barcelona B squad prevented him from honouring the invitations since the tournaments fell outside Fifa’s window for international matches.
For the first time in his career, Godswill Ekpolo will train with the Nigeria U23s on Tuesday morning local time along with Tottenham Hotspur starlet Nathan Oduwa.
Should the 20-year-old make his international debut against the South American powerhouse, he could play against his Barcelona teammate Rafinha.
