Alex Iwobi Learning New Tricks From Arsenal Stars Ozil, Alexis
Published: April 08, 2016
Alex Iwobi says he is learning from the best players at Arsenal, including Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, after breaking into the first team squad.
The attacking midfielder is poised to make his third straight start in the Premier League in Saturday’s tie against West Ham, having found the net against Everton and Watford.
“I would say I learn from people like Mesut Ozil and Alexis because of my position, and sometimes when I play up front I learn off Danny Welbeck, Olivier Giroud and Joel Campbell.” Iwobi told arsenal.com.
“Training with them everyday, I learn a lot.”
The Nigeria international has shown a technical ability to shake off his markers during games after watching Mesut Ozil in training.
“For me, I have learnt most from the way Ozil gets into space. I don’t know how he gets into space because on the pitch you think someone will get close to him but he always seems to have time and space.
“That is something I have been watching him do, because he is always aware of what is around him. I have learnt a lot from him.”
The 19-year-old has played 15 games in total for the Gunners first team since he debuted against Sheffield Wednesday.
