Nigeria Well Placed To Qualify After Earning 1-1 Draw In Senegal
Published: April 08, 2016
The Super Falcons have one foot in the 2016 African Women Cup of Nations following their 1-1 draw with Senegal on Friday evening.
Arsenal striker Asisat Oshoala led the frontline alongside Guingamp’s Desire Oparanozie, while offensive minded trio Francisca Ordega, Rita Chikwelu and Ngozi Okobi made the starting XI.
Substitute Chioma Wogu put Nigeria in front in the 45th minute in what was Florence Omagbemi’s first game in charge of the national team, after replacing the injured striker Desire Oparanozie a minute earlier.
Early into the second half, the match turned on its head after the Senegalese equalized but the defending champions frustrated the opponents in their bid to score a winner.
Nigeria will host Senegal in the second leg on Tuesday, April 12th in Abuja.
