Nigeria Starlet Umar Aminu Speaks On Comeback : We Did Not Give Up After Their Third Goal
Published: May 08, 2016
Umar Aminu has insisted that he was confident that Osmanlispor will pick up at least a share of the spoils in Saturday’s Turkish Super Lig clash against Bursaspor despite trailing the opponents 3-0 after 51 minutes.
The tie at the Osmanlı Stadı (Ankara) appeared to be dead and buried but the Nigeria international inspired his teammates when he netted in the 69th minute to bring the scoreline to 3-2, before Pierre Webo leveled matters six minutes from time.
“Well after their third goal I didn’t give up because I know we will score at least two of the three goals to be honest,” said Umar Aminu to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“But after the second goal we equalized and the way we kept pushing, no giving up, I figured we could even win the game if only we score our chances and truly we got the chance but we lost it.”
With two rounds to go in the division, Aminu has not lost hope that Osmanlıspor, who are fifth on the table, would qualify for next season’s Europa League.
“Of course I’m so confident but you know this is football, anything can happen but I won’t say we have given up because we are still in a better position.
“Hopefully if we can get a point next week and continue the fight like last night’s I think we will secure the spot.”
Umar Aminu has notched 7 goals in 27 Super Lig games so far this season.
