Published: May 08, 2016
The Austria U17s have qualified for the quarterfinals of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship after earning a 2-0 win against Ukraine at the Bakcell Arena, Baku on Sunday afternoon.
For the second straight Group B game, Nigeria target and Rapid Vienna starlet Kelvin Arase was named in the starting line-up of the Central Europeans and subbed out in the 69th minute, with the outcome of the match already decided.
Schmid scored the first goal of the game in the 7th minute before Müller put the Austrians 2-0 up in the 21st minute.
Like the first game, Arase showed glimpses of his potential though the young physical striker was penalized for a number of fouls on the Ukrainians.
With the win, Austria have garnered maximum points from their first two games and will top the group if Germany and Bosnia play out a draw at the Dalga Arena later today.
