Published: May 27, 2016
The England U21s have qualified for the final of the 2016 Toulon Tournament after beating Japan U23s 1-0 on Friday at the Stade Leo Lagrange.
The Young Lions maintained their 100 percent record in the competition thanks to Lewis Baker’s strike from the penalty spot after John Swift was fouled in the box.
Head coach Gareth Southgate introduced Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster Dominic Iorfa after the intermission to shore up the defense and England did not concede for the third game in a row that he was given a run-out.
JEF United striker Ado Onaiwu lasted 52 minutes on the pitch before making way for Riki Harakawa.
England will take on France in Sunday’s final at the Parc des Sports, Avignon.
