Everton Midfielder Of Nigerian Descent Barkley Features In England Win

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley was involved in international action on Friday night as England recorded a 2-1 win over Australia in a friendly held at Stadium Of Light, Sunderland.
Barkley was the only player of Nigerian descent that was given a run-out against the Socceroos, with Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli remaining on the bench for the entire contest.
The 22-year-old earned his 22nd cap for the Three Lions when he replaced Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford in the 63rd minute.
England won the pre-Euro 2016 fixture thanks to goals from Rashford and Rooney, while Eric scored an own goal.
Before making his competitive debut for England, Ross Barkley was eligible to represent the Super Eagles through his dad, Peter Effanga.
