Exclusive: Super Eagles Defender Troost-Ekong Extends Gent Contract Until 2018
Published: June 22, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria international William Troost-Ekong has ended speculation about his future by penning a new deal at Belgian topflight club Gent until the summer of 2018.
The central defender had been linked with possible moves to a number of teams in England in the summer transfer market including Crystal Palace, Swansea City, Norwich City and Brigthon & Hove Albion before he committed his future to Gent.
Gent wanted to immediately recall Troost-Ekong from his loan spell at FK Haugesund but the Norwegian club managed to convince him to stay.
The 22-year-old has a lot of love for FKH and their supporters, and agreed to remain till the end of the season, that is November 2016, to fight with the team.
Troost-Ekong was recently selected in the Best Eleven Players based in Scandinavia and it is all but confirmed that he will represent Nigeria at the 2016 Olympic Games as he is within the age limit.
