Ekpiteta Twins Shine In Win Over West Ham XI; Akinola Skippers The Hammers
Published: July 16, 2016
Former Flying Eagles invitee Marvel Ekpiteta and his twin brother, Marvin, both featured for Chelmsford City in their 2-0 win over West Ham Development Squad in a pre-season friendly on Friday.
Manager Rod Stringer completely changed his team just after the hour mark, bringing on the two Nigerian defenders and nine other players.
Jake Reid gave Chelmsford City the lead in the 70th minute and the home team would have doubled their advantage in the 85th minute when Marvel Ekpiteta was fouled in the area but Jack Powell failed to convert the spot kick.
In the second half, West Ham’s Nigerian defender Tunji Akinola was handed the captain’s armband after he was introduced.
Marvel Ekpiteta was called up to the Nigeria U20s squad by John Obuh in January 2013, few months before the African Youth Championship .
