Ola Aina Ready For Chelsea First Team As Conte Gives Him The Thumbs Up
Published: July 17, 2016
Ola Aina, 19, showed maturity beyond his years as Chelsea lost 2-0 to Rapid Vienna in their first pre-season fixture at the Allianz Stadion on Saturday.
The England youth international replaced Baba Rahman in the line-up immediately after the intermission, and had to play as a left back, though he is predominantly a right fullback.
In the closing minutes, Aina would have equalized when his long range effort hit the far post, with Rapid Vienna goalkeeper Strebinger well beaten.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was impressed by the performance of the young Nigerian defender and gave him a thumbs up during the game.
Super Eagles skipper Obi Mikel played 58 minutes of the contest while compatriot Victor Moses subbed out in the 80th minute.
