Chelsea Defender Ola Aina Impresses Again; Conte To Watch Nigerian Duo Solanke, Abraham
Published: July 20, 2016
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says he is impressed by Ola Aina and the youngsters training with the first team ahead of the forthcoming season and plans to run the rule over Nigerian strikers Dominic Solanke and Tammy Abraham in the coming weeks.
Against Wolfsberger AC in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night, Aina had a good half playing as a left back before switching to right back at the start of the second half following the introduction of Baba Rahman.
The England youth international showed plenty of promise and was applauded by Conte during the game when he got his body on the way of a threatening cross.
“Aina is showing the Academy is a good school and it is very important for the club. It’s a new source, ” Conte said in his post match comments, according to chelseafc.com.
“In the future I want to see other young players like Abraham and Solanke. I am very happy to have young players to work with and that I can improve and permit to become Chelsea first team players, not young players.”
Super Eagles star Victor Moses was given another opportunity to impress Conte when he was named in the starting XI, and he passed the test with flying colours, having been involved in the first two goals scored by Chelsea.
Mikel was introduced five minutes from time, his second appearance in pre-season. The Blues beat the Austrian opponents 3-0.
