Football College Abuja Italian manager Gobbo Renzo expects Nigeria U20 international Orji Okonkwo to complete his switch to Serie B side Spezia in the coming days.
Former Queens Park Rangers and Millwall central defender Danny Shittu has been working behind the scenes to find an English club for the Flying Eagles ace for the past eight months but has been unsuccessful..
Shittu, who claims to represent Orji Okonkwo, was in contact with Football College Abuja on Tuesday and was warned to keep his hands off their player.
“Danny Shittu called Renzo and introduced himself as Orji Okonkwo’s agent and he wanted to be updated on the transfer of the player , ” a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“Renzo told Shittu they don’t know him and he wasn’t the same person that brought Okonkwo to Football College, and added that they have an agreement with Tayo Adeleke.
“Okonkwo is bound for Spezia but we don’t know the date he will travel to join the club. ”
Orji Okonkwo has already been issued a work permit by the Italian authorities, paving the way for him to complete his transfer to Spezia.
