Amuneke, Iheanacho, Nwakali Cry Out To Imo SG: Give Us Our Promised Land
Published: August 04, 2016
Nigeria U20s coach Emmanuel Amuneke, Manchester City youngsters Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidiebere Nwakali, Porto striker Chidera Ezeh have made a passionate appeal to the Imo State Government to redeem its pledge to allocate lands to them.
Shortly after the Golden Eaglets won the 2013 Fifa Under 17 World Cup, the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, announced the donation of plots of land to each of the Imo State natives at a choice area in Owerri but has not redeemed the pledge.
“Rochas Okorocha pronounced that he will give Amuneke, Iheanacho, Nwakali and Chidera one plot each after winning the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup, ” a source close to the players and coach told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“The land was supposed to be allocated to them since 2013, they have not even shown them the land, so they are pleading with the State Government to give them the Certificate of Occupancy so they can start developing the lands.
“We are also appealing to the State Government to make the road to Eziobodo Community accessible. There are several national team players from that community but they have refused to visit because of the bad roads. ”
The Governor also announced a cash donation of 2 million Naira to former assistant coach of the Nigeria U17s Emmanuel Amuneke and 1 million Naira each to Kelechi Iheanacho, Chidera Ezeh and Chidiebere Nwakali when he received the team in November 2013.
