NEC Nijmegen On Brink Of Deal For Liverpool Striker Awoniyi - De Gelderlander
Published: August 15, 2016
Nigeria U23 international Taiwo Awoniyi is expected to be unveiled by Dutch club NEC Nijmegen this week.
According to matching press reports in the United Kingdom and Holland, including De Gelderlander, Awoniyi will undergo a medical at NEC Nijmegen on Monday before joining the club on a season-long loan move.
The attacker was acquired by Liverpool last season before he was farmed out on loan to FSV Frankfurt after failing to secure a work permit.
The 19-year-old Awoniyi made the Dream Team alternate roster for the Olympic Games but later left camp to complete his transfer to NEC.
He was in the stands on Sunday as NEC played out a 2-2 draw with Go Ahead Eagles in the Eredivisie.
