Nigeria Lagging Behind Switzerland In Race For FC Basel Teen Sensation Okafor
Published: September 27, 2016
The Nigeria Football Federation are lagging behind their Swiss counterparts in the race to secure the international future of highly rated FC Basel attacking midfielder Noah Okafor, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
The 16-year-old is in the possession of a Swiss passport but remains eligible to represent Nigeria internationally through his father, if the grandfather rule is invoked.
Having represented Switzerland U15 team, Okafor will undoubtedly fancy his chances of playing competitively for the Schweizer Pati if he continues with the progress he is making, as he has been called up to the U16 and U17 squad.
He is currently in Belgium with the Swiss U17s for their two international friendly games against Belgium on September 27 and September 29 in Tubize.
Therefore, he is definitely out of the Basel squad that will tackle Arsenal in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday.
