Top Scout Reckons Lateef Omidiji Is Better Than Celtic Next Big Hope Karamoko Dembele
Published: October 24, 2016
A top Paris Saint-Germain scout has claimed that American-born FC Dordrecht striker of Nigerian heritage, Lateef Omidiji Jr, is a better player than Celtic wonderkid Karamoko Dembele, having scouted the two exciting teenagers this season.
Whilst Dembele is poised to make his debut for Scotland’s U16 national team in the Victory Shield tournament later this month, Omidiji was not considered for selection for the Golden Eaglets during their 2017 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations qualifiers versus Niger Republic.
“I was Nigeria’s biggest advocate for this kid but until Nigeria gets more organized with their youth program-kids like this will continue to slip through their fingers and it’s sad because the kid really wanted to represent his fatherland, ” the unnamed PSG scout told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I have watched the 13-year-old Karamoko Dembele play at Celtic, watched some of the highest rated 13-year-olds play across Europe- none touch Lateef Jr’s current skills and potential.
“The kid is simply special and look at what Scotland just did- they just invited Dembele to their U16 team.
“What has Nigeria done with Lateef Jr? My job basically consists of traveling all over Europe to look for the next future stars and NO 13 YEAR OLD IN EUROPE is as good as Lateef Jr period”
Omidiji, who is eligible to represent Nigeria and the United States, is being tracked by some of the top teams in Europe, not limited to Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam.
