One of the goal scored by Fanendo Adi in Portland Timbers’s 5-1 rout of Minnesota United is in the running to be named the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week for the opening round of matches in the American top-flight.
The Nigerian showed his class when his slick dribble led to a brace in the closing minutes of the encounter at Providence Park.
Strikes from Romell Quioto (Houston Dynamo), Anibal Godoy (San Jose Earthquakes), Christian Ramirez (Minnesota United) and Yamil Asad (Atlanta United) have also been nominated for the Goal of the Week accolade.
Adi’s brace against Minnesota United took his tally to 43 goals in 91 appearances in the regular season since his arrival in Major League Soccer.
The 26-year-old has trained with the Golden Eaglets and Super Eagles in the past but has no caps to his name yet.
