NWFL Mourns Former Nigeria Coach Paul Hamilton

Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) supremo, Aisha Falode has extended condolence wishes to the family of the deceased coach, Paul Hamilton.

The former Nigeria player and tactician passed on in the early hours of Thursday in Lagos.

He was said to have been diagnosed of heart and kidney related health issues some months ago, and had his right leg amputated early this year.

“The sad news of the death of coach Paul Hamilton hits me hard like a volcano, I still cannot think right as his death is the least news the entire women football family is ready to welcome at this time all hands are required on deck to rebrand and repackage the league,” NWFL boss Falode said.

“The Nigeria Women Football League will sorely miss his ever ready fatherly and technical advice.”

With the defunct ECN, Hamilton who was popularly known Wonder Boy won the Challenge Cup (now Federation Cup) twice in 1965 and 1970.

He was in charge of Nigeria’s U-23 team before he was appointed coach of the Super Eagles.

He also led the Super Falcons to their first Women’s FIFA World Cup in China in 1991.
