PSG Set To Miss Out On Man City's Iheanacho, Buy-Back Clauses Illegal In France
Published: June 17, 2017
Paris Saint-Germain are set to miss out on the services of Africa's Most Promising Talent, Kelechi Iheanacho, in the summer transfer window, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
The French Ligue 1 moneybags had been monitoring the situation of the Manchester City striker, and scouted him during Nigeria's 3-0 rout of Togo in an international friendly held in Paris this month.
The Citizens want a buy-back clause inserted into any deal taking Iheanacho out of the Etihad Stadium, but it has come to light that this type of arrangement is forbidden in France.
Article 202 of the LFP regulations states : ''Club directors cannot sign off on a contract containing a ‘release clause’ (pre-agreeing, in exchange for compensation, the breach of the contract by either of the contracting parties), ‘cancellation clause’ or a unilateral termination clause with a French or foreign professional player, whether it be with the player or the club''.
Iheanacho has been declared surplus to requirements by City manager Pep Guardiola, and they are eager to sell him to boost their transfer budget.
He is reportedly a transfer target for West Ham, Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Borussia Dortmund.
