Chelsea, Manchester United Linked Midfielder Of Nigerian Descent Could Move To Arsenal
Published: June 18, 2017
Everton contract rebel Ross Barkley could be moving to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window.
The England star of Nigerian descent has been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea after refusing to sign a new long-term contract with the Toffees.
However, former Everton skipper Alan Stubbs has tipped Barkley to join Arsenal because of the competition for a first-team shirt at Spurs.
“The fact that Ross still hasn’t signed, I think that’s the biggest indicator that his future lies elsewhere,” Stubbs told Sky Sports News HQ.
“With Tottenham you have got Dele Alli in a similar position and, looking at Dele, he is ahead of Ross at this moment in time.
“Looking at those teams I think Arsenal are probably a team that he could go to.”
Barkley, 23, played 36 of Everton's 38 matches in the Premier League during the 2016-2017 campaign and scored five goals.
