Golden Ball Winner Of Nigerian Descent Praised For Dumping Chelsea For Liverpool
Published: August 03, 2017
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has praised Golden Ball winner at the 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup Dominic Solanke for ending his association with Chelsea this summer.
Fowler argued that the striker made the right choice to join Liverpool as he wasn't considered for Chelsea's first team.
''You know what’s good about him? The fact he’s left Chelsea, not because he’s gone to Liverpool, the fact is that he’s backed himself,'' Fowler told ITV.
''He wants to leave, he doesn’t feel as though he’ll get a good chance at Chelsea and he feels as though he might get a better opportunity elsewhere.''
He went on : ''You can’t fault the lad for wanting to do that. I think that’s refreshing.
''Too many times we talk about young players wanting to go to these clubs and sit on the bench and collect the wages – he’s backing himself. Full credit to him.''
In thirteen years at Stamford Bridge, Solanke could only make one appearance for the Blues in a competitive game, whereas he has been involved in seven matches for Liverpool's first team in pre-season.
