Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs Yet To Firm Up Their Interest In English-Born Nigerian Star
Published: August 11, 2017
The future of English-born Nigerian midfielder Ross Barkley continues to dominate the back pages, with earlier reports suggesting that he was one hundred percent certain to end his twelve-year association with Everton before the close of the transfer window.
However, there is a new development as manager Ronald Koeman has stated that interested clubs have not yet firmed up their interest in Barkley and the player may remain at Goodison Park.
Ross Barkley is a home-grown player, an England international for that matter, and has been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
''There is no offer on the table for Ross – that means he will stay at Everton. The player has one year [left on his] contract and there is no offer,'' Koeman stated.
''Maybe the club will not accept the offer because he is a good, young, English player. If somebody wants to buy Ross it’s a big deal.
''If there is no interest then he will stay and be part of the team. I respect every personal ambition of every player.
''Still he is training with Everton, he is part of the team and training in a good way.''
The 23-year-old Barkley has less than eleven months to go on his contract with Everton, and has refused to pen a new long-term deal.
