Manchester United, Liverpool Make Check On Borussia Dortmund's Nigerian Wonderkid
Published: August 27, 2017
Two top Premier League clubs were interested in the recently concluded fourth edition of the Plus Lohman International Youth Tournament in IJzendijke, Netherlands.
Pzc.nl says Manchester United and Liverpool talent spotters were in attendance during the two-day competition won by the U14 team of Borussia Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund beat French club OSC Lille 2-0 in the showpiece game, with Nigerian striker Isaak Nwachukwu scoring the second goal for the German outfit.
''We notice that the tournament is getting more and more familiar. For example, scouts of Manchester United and Liverpool cane for the tournament this weekend for two days,'' organizer Dwight van Hulle said.
''Next year we will organize the fifth edition and celebrate VV IJzendijke's centenary. That must be a special tournament again''.
The youth teams of RSC Anderlecht, West-Zeeuws-Vlaamse Selectie, AA Gent, FC Köln, Willem II and JVOZ were invited to participate in the competition.
