New Obafemi Martins Tipped To Bag Contract With Chelsea
Published: October 17, 2017
Talented Nigerian-born striker Victor Adeboyejo,19, has been tipped to bag a contract with Premier League champions Chelsea at the end of trials.
Chelsea are set to make a decision on whether or not the former Leyton Orient wonderkid will be offered a deal after training with the club's U23 team for about three weeks, and leading the line against Swansea City in a Premier League 2 match last Friday.
Chelsea youth-team expert, CarefreeYouth, told allnigeriasoccer.com : ''He did well but missed a few easy chances (against Swansea).
''The development squad needs a forward so he has a great chance of signing but personally I think he's too good for that level.
''If he signed for us I wouldn't be shocked if he was then sent out on loan. He's good enough to play English League One football.
''We have a few trialists at the club often but not many actually play games so I'd be surprised if we have played him then don't sign him''.
Adeboyejo is on the lookout for a new club after passing up the chance to extend his contract with Leyton Orient at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
Dubbed the new Obafemi Martins, he is also attracting interest from Barnsley, Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday.
