Official: Chelsea Confirm Versatile Defender Has Penned New Contract Until 2022
Published: November 20, 2017
With a statement on their official website, Premier League champions Chelsea have announced that promising defender Dujon Sterling has penned a new contract with the club.
The new deal signed by the 18-year-old will keep him at Stamford Bridge until at least June 30, 2022 if both parties honor the agreement.
Sterling made his first-team debut in a League Cup clash against Nottingham Forest on September 20, replacing Italy star Davide Zappacosta in the 76th minute.
He was an important member of the England squad that won the 2017 European U19 Championship, starting all the matches in the competition and notched an assist in a Group B match against Bulgaria.
The London native joined Chelsea at U8 level and signed his first professional contract in October 2016.
The highly-rated youngster can play multiple positions : wing-back, winger, central midfield and full-back.
