Arsenal Overtake Chelsea, Man Utd In Race For Ndidi's Close Pal
Published: December 24, 2017
Arsenal have overtaken Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Leon Bailey, according t reports.
The electronic edition of The Mirror UK claims Arsene Wenger dispatched scouts to watch Bailey at Hannover last Sunday and they came away hugely impressed after the winger scored twice in a 4-4 draw.
The Gunners are thought to be in the market for a winger following the departure of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool in the summer and uncertainty surrounding the future of Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.
If Leon Bailey is seeking advice on a move to the Premier League, he could contact Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi; the two players were very close at Racing Genk and left the Belgian side almost the same time for greener pastures.
The stumbling block to the Jamaican winger's move to England is that he has no release clause inserted into his contract and Bayer Leverkusen have insisted he's not for sale next month.
Leon Bailey is contracted to Bayer Leverkusen until 2022.
