Nigeria's Top Defensive Prospect At Arsenal Scores First-Ever Goal For U18s
Published: February 23, 2018
Arsenal U18s returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, with a 5-1 annihilation of Brighton in the U18 Premier League on Friday afternoon at Shenley Training Centre (Shenley, Hertfordshire).
Very promising young defender Joseph Olowu partnered with his off the pitch pal Tobi Omole in central defense, James Olayinka and Bukayo Saka were positioned on the right and left flanks respectively to offer support to striker Folarin Balogun.
Former Arsenal youngster Jayden Onen gave the visitors the lead just before half-time, against the run of play.
Two minutes after the interval, Benson leveled matters for Ampadu's side before goals from Coyle and Saka set Arsenal on their way.
Nine minutes from time Coyle grabbed his brace from open play, followed by a maiden goal at U18 level from Joseph Olowu five minutes later.
Olowu's first-ever goal for Arsenal U18s will provide a confidence boost as he has struggled to overcome an injury he picked up in the last quarter of 2017.
Despite being on the sidelines, the club kept faith in him, with the 18-year-old signing his first professional contract in December.
