Chelsea Defender Omeruo Receives International Call-Up For Poland, Serbia Friendlies
Published: March 03, 2018
Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo has received an international call-up from the Nigeria Football Federation ahead of the international friendlies against Poland and Serbia this month, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
The Super Eagles are set to take on Serbia at the Hive Stadium in London on March 27 and this means Omeruo could potentially face his former teammate at Chelsea, Manchester United's Nemanja Matić.
The former Sunshine Stars defender merited a call-up to the Super Eagles following his impressive performance in the national team's 4-2 win over Argentina last November, after replacing Leon Balogun on the hour mark.
It is thought that at least ninety five percent of the players invited for the friendlies against Poland and Serbia are certain to be included on Nigeria's 35-man provisional roster for the World Cup when it is announced on or before May 14.
Aged 24, Omeruo has earned 36 caps for Nigeria, going the distance in every single of the country's four matches at the 2014 World Cup despite being the youngest player on the team.
Rohr recalled the versatile defender to the national team for the final World Cup qualifier against Algeria.
This season, Omeruo has put in a full shift in the last 18 games contested by Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig.
