Nigerian Federation Blame Coach Manu Garba For Postponement Of Nigeria U17 Get-Together
Published: March 05, 2018
The Golden Eaglets get-together tentatively fixed for Sunday, March 4 did not begin after all and the Nigerian Federation has blamed coach Manu Garba for the postponement.
A Nigerian Federation insider has informed this website that the Nigeria U17s coach has yet to send the list of invited players, largely made up on the players he scouted and the Nigeria U15s that traveled to Morocco for two friendly matches last year.
''The camp did not start on Sunday because the Nigeria Football Federation have not received the list of players Manu Garba has called up for the training camp,'' the top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''He only sent us his program. As soon as we get the list, the screening exercise will start immediately. They will play friendly matches before Manu picks his standing team for the 2019 Africa U17 Cup of Nations qualifiers.''
Meanwhile, it is understood that the Nigerian Federation have arranged for the Flying Eagles to face Egypt in a friendly before their Africa U20 Cup of Nations qualifier against either Sierra Leone or Guinea Bissau in April.
Nigeria did not qualify for the 2017 Fifa U17 and U20 World Cups in India and South Korea respectively.
