Las Palmas Ace Etebo Plays Down Injury Fears, To Have A Check-Up Monday

Oghenekaro Etebo has played down the seriousness of a knock he picked up in Las Palmas's 2-0 loss to Villarreal in the Spanish La Liga on Sunday evening, a week before he's expected to start training with the national team in Wrocław.
The Nigeria international had to make way for Benito Ramírez in the 46th minute of the contest at Estadio de Gran Canaria (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).
Las Palmas manager Paco Jémez said post-match the substitutions of Erik Exposito and Etebo at half-time was a tactical decision as Villarreal had been winning the midfield battle in the opening 45 minutes.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Etebo will undergo a routine medical examination today and will resume training if the club medics give him the green light.
The 22-year-old has been Las Palmas standout player since his transfer to the Canary Islands club in the January transfer window, starting all the seven games played by the team.
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr is sweating on the fitness of Torino midfielder Joel Obi, while ADO Den Haag defender Tyronne Ebuehi is in the same boat as Etebo and his situation will become clear later today.
Las Palmas, who sit third bottom in the standings, travel to Deportivo La Coruna in their last fixture before the international break.
